Connie D. Henson, Ph.D.
 
 

Dr. Henson is a speaker, writer and consultant specialising in the development of leaders, executive teams, boards and organisations. She founded Learning Quest in 2001 and currently consults to multinational organisations in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the USA.

Connie is an engaging speaker who regularly presents at professional meetings and conferences. Topics have included: Leaders as Coaches, Leading Leadership Teams, Coping with/ Managing Stress, Learning Partnerships and Leading Change.

Creating and implementing individual and organisational development programs, Connie consults to a wide variety of businesses and industries including high tech, manufacturing, retail, public sector, hospitality, food and beverage, media and banking/financial services. Her executive consulting includes the design and implementation of talent development, change management and strategic planning processes. She also provides director and executive coaching/consultation, developmental assessment, leadership team development, executive education design and facilitation. She designs strategic competency models and assessment centres for use in succession management and leadership development.

In addition to her speaking and consulting activities, Connie teaches MBA students at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) in Sydney, and the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) in Sydney and Hong Kong. Subjects include Organisational Behaviour, Management of People and Organisations, Management Skills and Negotiation. She has previously taught Ph.D. students at the University of Florida and guest lectured at the Cox School of Business, Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas.

Actively involved in research, Connie’s current research interests include: studies designed to quantify the impact of psychological fitness on leadership performance, and the identification of leadership behaviours that enhance learning for leadership teams. She has also developed internet-based evaluation tools to measure the impact of interpersonal relationships on the learning process.

In addition to her professional work, Connie is active in her community. She consults on a pro bono basis to non-profit organisations and is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Quest for Life Foundation. She is also involved in the coordination and training of learning partners for homeless students and for participants in a young social leadership development program. Other volunteer projects include leadership development and executive coaching for leaders within non-profit organisations and marginalised communities, providing career development counselling for young indigenous people and teaching courses in humanities to homeless adults. In 2003, she participated in the Benevolent Society’s Sydney Leadership program, which promotes the development of Social/Community Leadership, and now provides pro bono consulting to the program and its leaders. She is also a member of member of Australian College of Applied Psychology - Course Advisory Committee..

Dr. Henson received her Ph.D. and MA in Counselling Psychology from the University of North Texas. She received her MS degree is in Rehabilitation Counselling from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and her BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. Connie is a current member of the American Psychological Association and the Australian Psychological Society, and is a registered psychologist within NSW and the state of Texas. She is also on the Coach & Mentor Connect panel and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Connie is lifelong learner, who is passionate about leadership development.
